June's Crochet Stitch of the Month: The Little Nubs Stitch Pattern

Hey guys! Can you believe we’ve made it to June already? That means we’re halfway through the 2025 Temperature-Sampler Blanket Crochet Along — how exciting is that!?

This month we’re diving into a stitch that’s a little more textured and fun: I’m calling it “Little Nubs.”

I actually used this same stitch in my 2024 Sampler Blanket, and even though I’m not sure if there’s an official name for it, I loved it so much that I just had to bring it back. It adds such a nice tactile feel and visual interest to your blanket — especially if your colors are starting to shift with the seasons.

From here on out, you can expect the stitches to get a little more playful and a little less traditional. I hope you love working this one as much as I do!

💕 4 Reasons You'll Love the Little Nubs Stitch

1. Adds Texture Without Bulk - The Little Nubs stitch gives your blanket a lovely, raised texture that feels fun and cozy without making the fabric too thick or heavy — perfect for a sampler project like this one!

2. Easy to Memorize, Fun to Work - Once you get the hang of it, this stitch flows really smoothly. It's one of those patterns that keeps your hands engaged but doesn’t require constant pattern-checking.

3. Visually Breaks Up Solid Color Sections - If you’ve had stretches of the same color due to consistent weather, this stitch adds just enough pop and texture to keep those rows interesting and beautiful.

4. Great for Showcasing Color Shifts - The subtle nubby detail catches light and shadow really well, making color transitions and variegated yarns look extra dynamic and eye-catching.

✨ Loose Tension = Happy Blanket

Okay this part is super important…Please make sure you’re using loose tension as you work this and every other stitch in the CAL.

We’ll be blocking and stretching the sides of the blanket before we add our border at the end of the year. Keeping your stitches relaxed helps everything line up beautifully—so we finish strong with clean edges and smooth sides.

💡 Not Feeling a Stitch? You Can Swap It!

Here’s the thing: I want you to enjoy this project. If a certain stitch isn’t your favorite, you can absolutely substitute it out.

Choose any stitch you like that:

  • Has a 1:1 stitch ratio (so you keep those 212 stitches per row)

  • Belongs to the single crochet family (this helps regulate the length over time)

You’re in charge of your blanket. Make it something you love working on. 💖
