There’s something about autumn that makes us want to slow down, grab a warm drink, and wrap ourselves in something soft. The Autumn Study Infinity Scarf was designed with that exact feeling in mind.

This scarf has that beautiful woven texture that looks high-end and sophisticated — the kind of piece you’d wear while studying in a quiet corner of a library — but it’s actually very beginner-friendly.

If you’ve been curious about Tunisian crochet, this is a perfect place to start.

🧶 Important Yarn Note

This yarn comes in a hank, not a ball. Before starting, you’ll need to wind it into a cake using a swift and ball winder. If you skip this step, tangles are almost guaranteed.

🪡 Stitch Guide

Tunisian Full Stitch (Tfs)

Insert hook into the space between two stitches (between vertical bars), YO, pull up a loop.

🧵 Pattern Instructions

Foundation

Ch 30.

Row 1: FP

Insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, YO, pull up a loop.

Repeat across chain.

(Total 30 loops on hook)

RP:

YO, pull through 1 loop. (Turning ch)

YO, pull through 2 loops across until 1 loop remains.

Row 2: FP

Insert hook into the space between the first 2 vertical line sts, that gap between, YO, pull through, keep loop on hook.

Repeat insert hook into the space between next 2 vertical line sts, YO, pull through, keep loop on hook.

Last st work under both loops of edge st.

NOTE: This creates a clean edge and keeps your stitch count correct.

(Total 30 loops on hook)

RP:

YO, pull through 1 loop. (Turning ch)

YO, pull through 2 loops across until 1 loop remains.

Rows 3 – 129 FP:

Work Tfs across by inserting hook between 2 vertical bar sts, YO, pull up a loop.

Last st work under both loops of edge st.

RP:

YO, pull through 1.

YO, pull through 2 loops across.

Repeat Row 2 for a total of 129 rows of forward and return passes.

✂️ Finishing

Fasten off, leaving an 18 - 24 inch long tail for joining.

Lay scarf flat and ensure it is not twisted.

Align ends together.

🪡 Seaming (Modified Mattress Stitch)

Using yarn needle:

Insert needle between stitches from back to front on one side.

Insert needle between stitches from back to front on the opposite side.

Repeat alternating sides across seam.

(Whip stitch may be substituted if preferred.)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

NOTE:  The angled edges created by the Tunisian Full Stitch are intentional. When joined, they nest together like puzzle pieces for a smooth seam.

TIPS FOR SUCCESS:

• Keep your tension relaxed

• Tunisian crochet can curl at first — this softens with wear

• Don’t worry if early rows look uneven — it improves as you go

💛 How to Wear the Autumn Study Infinity Scarf

This scarf can be worn long, wrapped twice, tucked into a coat, or pulled up like a hood for extra warmth. The baby llama yarn gives it warmth without heaviness — perfect for everyday wear.
